Sustainability

We believe that the future of Trenton, and of our business, is a sustainable future.
Trenton's location, pattern of development, and transportation infrastructure are ideally suited to sustainable development. Many of our buyers move to Trenton to be close to public transportation and to live in an increasingly urbane community that doesn't depend on automobiles and excessive energy expenditure.
Our partners have extensive training in "green design" and sustainable construction practices. Our customers respond to green features: energy efficient systems, insulation, and use of sustainable materials.
We believe that historic restoration is inherently green: effectively recycling buildings to recapture resources and embodied energy that would otherwise be squandered. Our projects disprove the notion that old buildings are necessarily less energy efficient than new ones, while delivering a level of comfort and urbanity that is rarely found in new construction.
Top: Photovoltaic panels on the roof of the Cracker Factory being wired. There are currently 3 sets of panels on the roof, one for the condo's common areas, and 2 for individual loft-units. Every loft is "photovoltaic ready" with reserved attachment points for panels, and pre-installed conduit.
Bottom: Insulating a loft in the Cracker Factory. Every loft is extensively insulated and features energy star rated windows and skylights.
